Yamaha | VP1

Description

VP1, which simulates Strings (any Kind) from morphing a guitar into a Chinese Erthu and things like that with only a few parameters. It's was extremely expensive. Still since there are only 3 "sold". It's basic functionality is like the VL1 but it is rarely seen.

The Structure is 4 Elements (Driver and String Model) with LFO and ADSR-Envelope each.

There are 2 basic "models" which are NOT the same as in the VL series, it's self oscillating and free running models for simulation of guitar kind of picking and bowing like on a violin.

There's 3 Scenes to morph between like on the Clavia Synths, but it's only a quite small set of parameters accessible, in this case all controllers. Most Parameters (hundreds)are not accessible on the box, so since it did not sell much because of that price (surprise) due to the DSP/computing power you need extra help via Yamaha - well but there is no editor so far so you have to live with the presets and that minimal set of parameters incl LFO, ENV and some more. Perfect for interesting unusual organic sounds and instrument emulation(s).

Velocity As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. Aftertouch Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel.
Values for OSC, LFO, Filter, Envelope are per voice unless stated otherwise.
