Electronic Music Studios (EMS) | Spectron (Spectre) |
Description | The Spectron originally released as the Spectre from EMS was an "Innovative Video Synthesiser" using analogue and digital techniques. The prototype was used to provide a projected lightshow for an early Tangerine Dream concert at the London Rainbow. Only 15 were built. The Spectron is a hybrid video synthesiser which uses the EMS patchboard system to allow completely flexible connections between module inputs and outputs. The video signals were digital, but they were controlled by analog voltages. There was a digital patch board for image composition and an analog patchboard for motion control. It was designed with the same concepts and approach used for audio synthesizers. |

Velocity | As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. | Aftertouch | Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel. |
